DAIS COUNSELING PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY DAIS school counselors adhere to the philosophy that all students can be successful in applying to a college and a school counseling program is a essential and integral part of the entire school educational process. The DAIS school counseling program, when fully implemented, will provide:• Support networks for all students, including parents and the school community.• Opportunities for all students to receive academic and career counseling and guidance.• Assistance for students to become responsible adults capable of developing realistic and fulfilling life plans based on a clear understanding of themselves and their needs, interests and abilities. • Continued focus on helping students develop skills in decision making, career development, working with others, and taking responsibility for their own behavior. All DAIS school counselors recognize that: • All children are unique and should be treated with respect and dignity. • Every student can succeed. • Learning is a lifelong process. • Promoting a positive self-image is the collaborative effort of school, home and community that leads to responsible and productive citizenship. • The diverse needs of all students must be addressed through the guidance and counseling program. • A comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program is not a support service but an integral part of the overall educational program.• A developmentally appropriate career guidance and counseling program provides important benefits to individual students by meeting their intellectual needs.PHILOSOPHY DAIS COLLEGE COUNSELING Our primary goal is to guide students in their college search, application...... middle of paper ... ...first-hand information about a specific institution and meeting with a team member of admission. Students are invited to register for any session through Naviance Family Connection.• College Decision• Once a student has decided to accept an offer of admission, he or she is required to notify the remaining colleges of his or her decision. Most decision-making or early action programs do not require decisions from the student until May 1, giving students ample time to make an informed decision. When a student chooses a university, he or she is required to submit the necessary enrollment forms, along with a security deposit. Please note that students cannot deposit to more than one institution. When a student files at one university, an application withdrawal letter must be sent to the remaining universities. Form letters are available in the college advising office.
